"GPS spoofing" Falsification of GPS signals

U.S. cargo ship Stolen in the canal of Oman.

A few months ago, the U.S. accused an Iranian-backed group of diverting a cargo ship to Iran's border areas, then Iran confirmed the news that it had seized a U.S. cargo ship.

The U.S. sent a team of trained experts to the canal of Oman to investigate the accident and after a month of investigation, they found nothing, but they noticed that in a short period of time، the communication lines were shocked، meaning they didn't work، and when the communications jammed، their small ship GPS jammed, which caused the ship to change its line for no reason and was directed by satellites.

Then, they thought that the satellites would change the lines of ships, so the SIG room was alerted and after a long search, they identified a strange frequency with a spectrum analyzer.

Eventually, it became clear to the team that there was a harmful antenna, near the canal of Oman, that could communicate with satellites in the area, and in this way, it was able to change the ship's line to it is border.

GPS spoofing.

GPS spoofing is a technique used to manipulate GPS signals to trick receivers into giving false information about a target's location, This can be done by transmitting fake signals that are stronger than the real ones, it can deceive the ship's tracking system and cause it to deviate from it is canal, and in the same way, Iran has taken the ship to it is own border to give it the right to seize, because any ship that enters a country's border can be seized, but immediately after this attack, the U.S. Marines bombed the coast to destroy the NRF antennas.

This is not the first time Iran has carried out this attack, but in 2011 it hijacked a U.S. drone and then copied it to the Fatim-18 Shaheen 142.
